Creating music is an act of transmutation – the pulling of one form of energy into another. It is easy to forget that songs are carried on the wind. In this sense, each song is a small and triumphant birth, the coming of a thing that previously wasn’t.
Music can be many things, but in the meta age, it is inherently spiritual and above all political. It is no small feat to capture sincere, authentic attention and joy in a world that is optimised to dysregulate dopamine. Resistance today is unperturbed joy, music, art, feeling your skin from the inside and living in it, not looking at it.
My upcoming album, Meta Modernism, explores this idea. It is a longing for life as much as it is an exploration of the uneasy undercurrents that steer daily life in the melancholy, chaotic meta modern, where the individual feels split and lonely.
I look forward to sharing it.
